Koi in scarlet, gold and white beneath rippled petrol-teal water, seen from above

A texture study · diamond painting

Ripple

A koi pond under glass, with water on the glass. See it as the photograph or set in resin drills, then touch it: a ring spreads from your finger and the picture beneath bends through it.

Tap the water

The water is real, in the only way a page can make it: a grid of heights that ripples outward and settles a little every frame, the way a pond does. The picture is read through it, bent by the slope of the surface, and the crests catch the light. Every few seconds a drop lands on its own, as if a fish had surfaced.
